Take Better Pictures was set up and is run by Derek Linney - a keen photographer and business communicator. Derek has a wide range of photographic experience and a passion for taking pictures. Unlike many courses, Take Better Picture's courses are designed with the amateur photographer in mind and with a good understanding of the challenges facing new DSLR users as they try to come to grips with their cameras. Our intermediate course helps more experienced photographers to better exploit their cameras through more advanced techniques and by introducing the benefits of capturing Raw images.
In all cases our courses are structured to provide an experience that genuinely builds both knowledge and confidence. Classes are kept small in size (maximum of 6 students). And everyone enjoys the experience.
We target the courses at practical experience to enable students to take better pictures in typical situations:
Since we ourselves shoot with a range of entry, intermediate and professional Canon, Nikon and Panasonic gear and also have used Olympus and Sony cameras we also feel we can offer relatively unbiased advice on equipment and what is, and isn't, worth spending money on.
"Thank you for the intermediate course that you ran last weekend. I really enjoyed it and got a great deal from it. It's nice to be taught by someone with such a passion for his subject."
"I wanted to send you a short email to say thank you for the course I recently attended. I learnt far more than I thought I would and it finally clicked so much together for me. Since the course I have looked back through old pictures I have taken and learnt a lot about how I could have taken them better, and came away from the course re-energised for photography."
"I was really impressed with you clear information and delivery and learnt a great deal – I definitely feel more comfortable using my camera now (off automatic of course!) Thanks again for doing such a great job – will definitely recommend this course to friends."
"Thanks very much for an interesting, engaging and enjoyable two days. I thought there was a good balance of theory and practice throughout the course and that I have learnt lots."
"Just wanted to say thank you for a great course. Thoroughly enjoyed it and found it very useful. Will be sure to recommend the course to friends and colleagues."
"I thoroughly enjoyed the weekend, the group were great and the group size just perfect, as was the content - don't ever change anything!"
